About the Role

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manual Handling Specialist to join our Patient Safety and Risk Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe handling of patients and equipment across our hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver robust, fit-for-purpose manual handling training programs that meet industry best practices and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety team to establish and maintain manual handling standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and support to managers and staff on manual handling issues, including patient handling and inanimate load handling.
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyze incident data to identify trends and areas of concern, and develop practical solutions to improve safety performance.
  • Produce policies, procedures, and communications to assist Trust management and staff in complying with Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in delivering manual handling training to diverse audiences, preferably in an acute NHS setting.
  • Postgraduate qualification in manual handling or a related field.
  • NVQ/QCA level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS) or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to challenge constructively.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective decision-making and influencing skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
