About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manual Handling Specialist to join our Patient Safety and Risk Department at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver robust and fit-for-purpose manual handling training across the Trust, ensuring it meets industry best practice and legislative requirements.
  • Establish and maintain manual handling standards based on legislative documentation, working closely with the Health and Safety team.
  • Provide advice and support to the Health and Safety team and all Trust staff on manual handling issues, including patient handling and inanimate loads.
  • Use the Trust Risk Management Database System to analyze incident data, identify trends, and provide practical solutions to protect staff and patients.
  • Produce policies, procedures, and communications to assist Trust management and staff in complying with Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in manual handling.
  • NVQ/QCA level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS).
  • Substantial experience of delivering manual/patient handling training to a range of audiences, preferably in an acute NHS environment.
  • Commitment to personal learning and development.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current manual handling risk management and associated legislation in relation to NHS environments.
Desirable
  • Experience of managing a member of staff.
  • A relevant professional health and safety qualification, such as a NEBOSH Certificate or suitable alternative.
