About the Role

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Manual Handling Specialist to join our Patient Safety and Risk Department. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Manual Handling Advisor and contributing to the implementation of the Trust Health and Safety Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver robust, fit-for-purpose manual handling training across the Trust, ensuring it meets industry best practice and legislative requirements.
  • Establish and maintain manual handling standards, providing guidance and support to staff at all levels.
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and support the delivery of manual handling training, ensuring quality and consistency across the Trust.
  • Provide advice and support to the Health and Safety team, staff, and managers on manual handling issues, including patient handling and inanimate loads.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
  • Relevant professional qualification (Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, nursing, or other discipline) with suitable experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification in manual handling.
  • NVQ/QCA level 4 teaching qualification (CTTLS).
  • Commitment to personal learning and development.
  • Thorough working knowledge of current manual handling risk management and associated legislation in NHS environments.
