Job Summary

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Manual Handling Advisor to join our Patient Safety and Risk Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Manual Handling Advisor and providing expert guidance on manual handling practices across the Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the implementation of our Trust Health and Safety Strategy and Risk Management Standards programmes. You will be responsible for delivering robust, fit-for-purpose manual handling training across the Trust, ensuring that staff are confident and competent to deal with moving and handling issues in a safe and appropriate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Manual Handling Advisor in the development and delivery of manual handling training programmes
  • Provide expert guidance on manual handling practices and policies to staff at all levels
  • Conduct thorough incident investigations and provide recommendations for remedial action
  • Develop and maintain manual handling standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety team and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of manual handling policies and procedures
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a relevant professional qualification, such as an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or nursing qualification. You will also have a postgraduate qualification in manual handling and a teaching qualification. Experience of delivering manual handling training to a range of audiences is essential, as is a thorough working knowledge of current manual handling risk management and associated legislation in relation to NHS environments.
