Job Description

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer to join their team in Leeds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural, temporary works, and geotechnical engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to the sectors of the business, including above ground structures and tunnelling.
  • Support tendering and developing construction methodology.
  • Lead projects through the preconstruction design phase, producing designs, and provide technical support through the construction phase, supporting site teams.
  • Projects include shaft design, tunnel designs for timber headings, microtunnelling/pipejacking, excavation stability, and support.
  • Earthwork stability slope stability analysis.
  • Ground settlement analysis from tunnelling and excavations.
Requirements:
  • BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
  • Working towards chartership, such as the ICE or IStructE.
  • 10+ years' experience with expertise in underground structures/tunnelling temporary works.
  • Design consultancy environment.
  • Technical skill with accomplished structural design skills and geotechnical knowledge.
  • Ability to help support, mentor, and develop junior engineers within the team.
  • Sound knowledge of CDM H&S regulations.
  • Excellent written English language and grammar.
  • Competent to apply Temporary works design principals in accordance with BS5975 standard.
  • Capable to apply permanent work standards with design solutions in both timber, steel, reinforced concrete, and proprietary structural systems.
Remuneration:
  • Salary: DOE up to £75k.
  • 23 days' holiday plus 8 days Bank Holidays.
