Job Description

Job Summary:

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Development Officer to join our team in the Yorkshire & Humber region. As a key member of our North England Membership area, you will play a crucial role in promoting and advancing civil engineering in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Membership Growth: Develop and implement strategies to promote and grow membership in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue business opportunities to progress and support aspirant members, ensuring effective delivery across the region and North of England.
  • Membership Support: Provide expert advice and guidance to members and non-members, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Employer Support: Offer guidance and support to employers on professional development, helping them to develop their employees' skills and knowledge.
  • Education and Training: Collaborate with Further Education and Higher Education establishments to advise students on membership and career opportunities in civil engineering.
  • Programme Management: Oversee the operation of ICE Approved Employers and mentor-supported programs, ensuring their smooth delivery and effectiveness.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Membership Manager, existing Membership Development Officers, Membership Support Centre, and Membership areas to ensure a consistent approach and high-quality service delivery.
  • Record Management: Ensure that ICE membership records are accurate and up-to-date.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree-level qualification or equivalent in a relevant field, such as civil engineering, customer service, learning and development, or a related subject.
  • Experience: Proven experience in business development, customer service, or a related field, with a strong understanding of civil engineering and its applications.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of audiences, including senior members of the engineering and education professions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications, with experience working with databases an advantage.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Ability to work outside normal office hours, travel to team meetings and meetings at the Head Office in London, and carry out presentations and workshops using MS Teams.
