Job Role:

  • Conduct servicing and repairs to ensure maximum machine reliability and a high standard of plant maintenance that meets or exceeds customer needs regarding safety.
  • Inspect machines regularly and report any observed damage, wear, or defects.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair any broken or faulty machinery.
  • Ensure all tasks are conducted in accordance with the company's health and safety policy and comply with relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Provide consultation on correct operation and daily maintenance measures to machine operators.
  • Liaise with management to ensure stock is replenished adequately.
  • Keep logs of work and complete job sheets and weekly labour allocation reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure job sheets contain a comprehensive description of parts and oils used, as well as a detailed account of labour hours, including travel and waiting time.
  • Ensure supplier delivery notes are handed promptly to the Hire Desk Assistant.
  • Facilitate occasional deliveries requested by the Hire Desk.
  • Carry out repairs on company fleet vehicles, including small to medium-sized vans, and heavy plant assets such as excavators, dumper trucks, trench compactors, and rollers.

The Person:

  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Calm under pressure situations, such as short timeframes for repairs.
  • Proactive towards repairs, stock, and health and safety.
  • A team mentality and willingness to help colleagues.
  • Ideal candidate would provide their own tools.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working on heavy plant vehicles is essential.
  • Vast knowledge of plant machinery, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Competent in the service and repair of plant and vehicles.
  • A recognised trade qualification is beneficial - Level 2/3 in plant maintenance or similar.
  • A valid clean driving license.
