Job Role:

  • Conduct regular servicing and repairs to ensure maximum machine reliability and a high standard of plant maintenance that meets or exceeds customer needs regarding safety.
  • Inspect machines at every opportunity and report any observed damage, wear, or defects appropriately.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair any broken or faulty machinery.
  • Ensure all tasks in the depot and site environments are conducted in accordance with the company's health and safety policy and comply with relevant company rules and procedures.
  • Provide consultation on correct operation and daily maintenance measures to machine operators.
  • Liaise with management to ensure stock is replenished adequately.
  • Keep detailed logs of work, including completing job sheets and weekly labour allocation reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure job sheets contain comprehensive descriptions of parts and oils used, as well as detailed accounts of labour hours, including travel and waiting time, repair time, and waste disposal.
  • Ensure supplier delivery notes are handed promptly to the Hire Desk Assistant.
  • Facilitate occasional deliveries requested by the Hire Desk.
  • Carry out repairs on company fleet vehicles, including small to medium-sized vans, and heavy plant assets such as excavators, dumper trucks, trench compactors, and rollers.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A keen eye for detail and ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Proactive and reactive towards repairs, stock, and health and safety.
  • A team player who is willing to help colleagues when needed.
  • Punctual and reliable with a valid clean driving license.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working on heavy plant vehicles is essential for success.
  • Vast knowledge of plant machinery, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Competent in the service and repair of plant and vehicles.
  • A recognised trade qualification is beneficial - Level 2/3 in plant maintenance or similar.
