Overview
Everest People Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Hygiene Operations Manager to oversee the cleanliness and compliance of a large food processing company based in Wolverhampton. As the Hygiene Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective cleaning of the factory in accordance with established hygiene standards. This role will also involve ensuring that work instructions are up-to-date and aligned with best practices, enabling the site to meet all customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee section operations to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), business objectives, and customer specifications, while achieving quality, productivity, and cost targets.
- Maintain compliance with food safety legislation and ensure COSHH and Health & Safety guidelines are followed, including proper PPE use.
- Manage daily equipment strip downs, deep cleans, and reassembly; collaborate with suppliers to meet chemical and service requirements.
- Establish, review, and maintain cleaning schedules; implement and review continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and audit cleaning quality, addressing non-conformance promptly to protect product integrity.
- Control resources, including labour and chemical usage; ensure accurate record-keeping for audits and due diligence.
- Report equipment damage to the Technical and Maintenance teams.
- Apply disciplinary, grievance, and absence procedures consistently, conduct staff appraisals and reviews.
- Develop and coach staff to enhance performance and fully utilise their skills; delegate tasks effectively and maintain staffing levels.
- Promote a customer-focused environment and ensure compliance with Equal Opportunity, Recruitment, and Employee Management policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Hygiene Manager or similar role within a food manufacturing or processing environment is essential.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, including BRC, HACCP, and COSHH.
- Knowledge of cleaning processes, chemicals, and equipment used in a food production setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage a team effectively.
- Experience in implementing and managing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong decision-making skills with a focus on maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with all levels.
- Proficient in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, for managing schedules, records, and reports.
- Ability to identify and address issues quickly and efficiently, maintaining product integrity and safety.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
- High attention to detail, ensuring that all cleaning activities meet the required standards.
- Relevant qualifications in food safety, hygiene management, or a related field are desirable.
- Certification in HACCP and COSHH management is essential.
- A proactive and results-driven approach to managing hygiene operations.
