About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Conservation Architect to join our Heritage & Conservation Architecture team at Arup. As a key member of our team, you will work alongside specialists in design and conservation for listed buildings, contributing to the delivery of high-profile projects with significant technical complexity and a focus on sustainability and holistic thinking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the conservation and restoration of historic buildings, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement conservation strategies, taking into account the cultural, social, and environmental context of each project.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community groups, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of historic buildings, identifying areas of conservation need and developing comprehensive conservation plans.
  • Prepare and submit reports, applications, and specifications to regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest conservation techniques, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve the quality and sustainability of our projects.
Requirements
  • Accredited Conservation Architect (or a registered Architect with the conservation accreditation process underway)
  • Demonstrable experience in the conservation industry, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and edit complex reports and specifications
  • Experience across the full range of RIBA stages, with expertise in preparing statements of significance, listed building consent applications, and architectural specifications
  • Strong design skills, with demonstrable experience in developing conservation and refurbishment projects
  • Experience with stakeholder consultation and negotiation around heritage work
