About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Urban Design Officer to join our team at the Urban Design Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing specialist advice and guidance on the historic built environment and urban design matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance on the historic built environment and urban design matters to internal and external customers.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of conservation professionals to deliver a high-quality and consistent service.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a range of projects and initiatives related to urban design and conservation.
  • Use a variety of IT systems and software applications to gather information, interpret proposals, and communicate ideas and advice effectively.
Requirements
  • Be enthusiastic, versatile, and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Have the confidence to work under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • A demonstrable experience of local authority working on both historic built environment and urban design led schemes and an ability to sensitively resolve complex issues associated with these.
  • A Degree or Diploma in conservation of the built historic environment or equivalent is essential. A similar qualification in urban design is desirable but not essential to the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are essential. The ability to use design packages such as AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative suite programmes such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator to a similar level are highly desirable.
