About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our team in the Gastroenterology department at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to our medical team, ensuring the smooth operation of patient pathways and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and log referrals, including paper and Choose and Book, in line with Trust Access Policy and specialty Schedule new and follow-up appointments with patients, ensuring that capacity is proactively and efficiently used, and supervising other staff to ensure this is done.
  • Coordinate appointments and procedures at other hospitals and organizations, ensuring that clinic outcomes are recorded accurately on PAS, including those for offsite clinics.
  • Liaise with patient records staff, ward clerks, and other organizations to ensure all medical notes, referral letters, results, and discharge summaries are available for outpatient appointments and consultations.

Requirements

  • RSA III or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, grades A-C or equivalent experience
  • NVQ level II in business administration/customer care or acquired equivalent experience
