About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Credit Risk Manager to lead our Motor Finance portfolio team. As a key member of our Credit Risk team, you will be responsible for setting and managing risk appetite, developing and delivering credit risk strategies, and monitoring performance against agreed plans and targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Management: Monitor credit risk performance against agreed plans, targets, and budgets, and work with the wider business to address any performance issues or capitalize on opportunities.
  • Strategic Development: Develop and provide high-quality credit risk-related MI, insight, and advice to key committees and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Policy Development: Support the delivery, development, and ongoing monitoring of credit decision strategies and scoring capabilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and develop affordability strategies across Motor, working closely with 1st line and 2nd line to ensure strategies adhere to regulation and deliver good customer outcomes.
  • Credit Governance: Ensure all credit governance requirements are adhered to, including timely completion of RCSAs, policy reviews, quality assurance, mandate reviews, audit remediation, incident management, and escalation.
Requirements
  • Experience: In-depth understanding of credit risk across the lifecycle, with specific expertise in acquisition, including the setting of credit and affordability strategies, policies, underwriting, bureau data, and credit systems.
  • Leadership: Experience managing a high-performing credit risk team within a consumer credit risk function, combined with experience in applying and managing complex modeling concepts within credit risk.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience implementing credit policies, affordability strategies, and appropriate risk control frameworks in a FCA-regulated environment, with an understanding of UK regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Team Development: Experience leading, developing, and coaching a highly effective analytical credit team.
Desirable Skills
  • Coding Skills: Strong coding skills, with experience using tools such as SAS or equivalent.
  • Credit Scoring: Experience delivering and managing credit scoring in a retail environment or close working with scorecards and scorecard development.
