Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Credit Risk Analyst to join our team at Close Brothers. As a key member of our Credit Risk team, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering credit risk strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of credit acquisition strategies and processes to provide valuable insights and recommendations to Credit management.
  • Monitor and set motor credit risk performance against agreed plans, targets, and budgets, working closely with the Credit Manager to propose and agree actions required to address any performance issues or capitalize on opportunities.
  • Develop and present high-quality credit risk-related MI and insights to Credit management, Credit Committees, and other major stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain and provide input for relevant Credit Policies to ensure the delivery of business objectives and alignment with Group Credit Risk Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with prudent underwriting standards and assist Operations to manage motor bad debt appropriately, ensuring all processes comply with regulatory guidance.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing and implementing credit acquisition strategies, including setting credit and affordability strategies, policies, underwriting, bureau data, and credit systems.
  • A strong analytical mindset to understand and investigate complex issues in a methodical manner.
  • Strong coding skills, with experience using tools such as SAS, SQL, Alteryx, Business Objects, or other similar data analytical tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact and communicate complex information to senior management and non-credit colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, supporting, coaching, and encouraging other team members.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding and/or experience of credit scorecards in a retail or commercial environment.
  • Experience of consumer and commercial underwriting, credit bureau data, and reports, business accounts, etc.
