About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Credit Risk Analyst to join our team at Close Brothers Group. As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering credit risk strategies to support the growth and profitability of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of credit acquisition strategies and processes to provide actionable insights and recommendations to credit management.
  • Monitor and report on motor credit risk performance, identifying areas for improvement and proposing actions to address performance issues or capitalize on opportunities.
  • Develop and present high-quality credit risk-related metrics and insights to credit management and other key stakeholders to inform decision-making.
  • Effectively communicate complex findings and recommendations through written and graphical reports using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Maintain and contribute to relevant credit policies to ensure alignment with business objectives and group credit risk standards.
  • Ensure compliance with prudent underwriting standards and collaborate with operations to manage motor bad debt and ensure processes align with regulatory guidance.
  • Support the business assurance team in reviewing quality assurance checks of underwriting, creditworthiness, and affordability assessments to ensure credit policy adherence and provide rationale for decisions.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand and investigate complex issues in a methodical manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with management and non-credit colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sharing best practices and fostering a positive team spirit.
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques to extract, manipulate, and interpret large data sets.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of credit acquisition strategy, including credit and affordability strategies, policies, underwriting, bureau data, and credit systems.
  • Experience in consumer and commercial underwriting, credit bureau data, and reports, business accounts, etc.
  • Experience using tools such as SAS, SQL, Alteryx, Business Objects, or other similar data analytical tools.
