Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Job Type: Full-time, Term-time only

Location: Portsmouth

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a secondary school in Portsmouth. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their learning, both in the classroom and through targeted small group interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Students in Whole-Class Settings: Assist students in engaging fully in lessons and reaching their potential.
  • Provide One-to-One and Small Group Interventions: Adapt learning materials to suit individual needs and provide tailored support to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Assist Teaching Staff: Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment, offering practical support to ensure all students can access the curriculum.
  • Monitor Student Progress: Report on student development to teachers and senior staff, helping to tailor support strategies.
  • Promote Positive Behaviour: Encourage student engagement, fostering independence and confidence in learning.
  • Support Students with Specific Learning Needs: Provide tailored assistance in accordance with learning plans.
  • Prepare Classroom Materials: Ensure lessons run smoothly by preparing classroom materials and resources.

Requirements:

  • Organisation and Proactivity: Be organised, proactive, and committed to supporting students.
  • Previous Experience: Have previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational setting.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Be able to work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
