About the Head of Sustainability Performance Role

We are seeking a forward-thinking ESG Leader to lead Sustainability Performance for one of our major investor clients' iconic landmark buildings in Europe/City of London. As part of our JLL Sustainable Operations team, you will lead the building team in pursuit of the client's ESG objectives and ambition to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2030.

You will work directly with the client and building team to lead on their ESG programme management and coordination needs. You will be a senior member of our JLL Sustainable Operations Team with a deep knowledge of the needs of our clients' programmes, and an expert in building performance and programme management.

The Head of Sustainable Performance will act as an accelerator and collaborator to support sustainability service needs within the client team and occupier community within the building. You will maximise, manage, and maintain engagement across all asset and sustainability activity to reach the client goals within their ESG and NZC programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and optimize new sustainability programmes in direct collaboration with the client and JLL team sustainability team.
  • Apply applicable tools, whether third-party or in-house JLL, and processes to sustainability problem-solving.
  • Understand the implementation of sustainability across the lifecycle of commercial real estate, including critical stakeholder roles, strategic decision-making, and how to leverage data tracking and monitoring.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all sustainability activities throughout the building.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance on ways to enhance and expand service delivery to the client, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations, and the broader Energy and Sustainability service providers.
  • Establish strong working relationships with the JLL management teams, Contract Directors, Client Relationship Directors, and serve as the point of contact and advice for all sustainability-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other JLL service lines on the account (Real Estate, Finance, Projects, FM, and procurement) to deliver an integrated energy and sustainability solution to the client and JLL team.
  • Effectively track and communicate success stories to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved regarding the overall energy and sustainability programme.
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.

Requirements:

  • University Degree (environment, sustainability, science, engineering, or related fields)
  • Ideally 8 years' experience in managing and delivering sustainability-related services to real estate clients.
  • A sustainability-related qualification and a deep understanding of sustainability issues relevant to real estate.
  • An excellent understanding of the key sustainability issues within real estate, including, but not limited to; decarbonization, embodied carbon, circularity, resource preservation, biodiversity, climate risk, health & wellbeing, and social value creation.
  • Experience working with corporate clients, commercial property, property managers, and an understanding of the landlord and tenant relationship is desirable.
  • A strong track record integrating sustainability into organizations' operations.
  • Experience working in a collaborative way with clients and other stakeholders to develop ambitious and robust sustainability programmes.
  • Proven project management experience and excellent communication skills.
