Role Overview

Forestry and Land Scotland is committed to sustainable forest management, and we're seeking a skilled professional to lead our harvesting support team. As Head of Harvesting Support, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective harvesting of timber, while maintaining our high standards of environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and technical support to Regional Delivery teams to increase the efficiency of our timber harvesting machinery fleet.
  • Develop and implement emerging strategic initiatives, including the creation of a harvesting data repository and associated analysis.
  • Ensure that relevant service contracts are in place and that harvesting activities meet the requirements of FSC and PEFC certification.
  • Provide advice and support to staff regarding service contracts, timber sales contracts, and timber harvesting operations.

About the Team

The FLS National Marketing and Sales Team is dedicated to supporting the harvesting, marketing, and sales of timber. This is a core part of our commitment to sustainable forest management and provides the majority of our operating income.

Requirements

  • Experience in timber harvesting, associated timber sales, procurement, and contract management.
  • Pre-felling timber crop surveys experience.
