About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Neonatal Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to newborn babies and their families in our special care, high dependency, and intensive care nursery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate neonatal nursing care on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring that fundamental needs for individual babies and parents are met.
  2. Ensure the safe dispensation of drugs, maintaining knowledge of side effects and other contra-indications.
  3. Coordinate the effective admission, transfer, and discharge of individual children in line with Trust policy.
  4. Discuss options and support parents in making informed choices in their plan of care.
  5. Adhere to the Trust's safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that knowledge and practice enable children to be safeguarded.
  6. Promote the importance of modifying the environment, taking into account the individual developmental needs of the infant.
  7. Work with the team to participate and respond to suggestions and complaints, evaluate patient and carer experience, and make recommendations to improve services.
  8. Promote and actively participate in the Trust and Children's Services Nursing Strategy.
  9. Demonstrate a professional approach to work and act in accordance with Trust Policies and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Person Specification

Essential

  • NMC registration
  • Willingness to undertake Neonatal qualification if not already held

Desirable

  • FLAP or equivalent
  • Neonatal experience
  • Level 3 safeguarding children
