Job Title: Neonatal Outreach Staff Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Outreach Staff Nurse to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to newborn babies and their families in our Neonatal Unit.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate neonatal nursing care on a shift-by-shift basis, consistent with evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure the safe dispensation of drugs, adhering to Trust and NMC guidelines.
  • Coordinate the effective admission, transfer, and discharge of individual children, in line with Trust policy.
  • Discuss options and support parents in making informed choices in their plan of care.
  • Adhere to the Trust's safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promote the importance of modifying the environment, taking into account the individual developmental needs of the infant.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the team to participate and respond to suggestions and complaints.
  • Promote and actively participate in the Trust and Children's Services Nursing Strategy.
  • Demonstrate a professional approach to work and act in accordance with Trust Policies and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Person Specification:
  • NMC registration.
  • Willingness to undertake Neonatal qualification if not already held.
Desirable:
  • FLAP or equivalent.
  • Neonatal experience.
  • Level 3 safeguarding children.
Experience:
  • Manage assigned caseload.
  • Basic understanding of important aspects of caring for babies.
  • Understanding of family-centred care.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate reflective practice.
  • Ability to develop personal & unit initiatives.
  • Understanding of the concept of clinical supervision.
  • Evidence of effective child protection and safeguarding working.
