About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Community Development Officer to join our team at Cambridge Science Centre. The successful candidate will lead a new community-focused initiative aimed at increasing access to our educational offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Research: Conduct research to identify areas of need in Cambridge and develop evidence-based strategies to address these challenges.
  • Partnership Development: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local community leaders and organisations to ensure our programmes reach the right audiences.
  • Programme Development: Co-design and coordinate events with a place-based approach or under a thematic area, working closely with internal teams to ensure successful programme delivery.
  • Outreach & Communication: Build trust with community stakeholders and serve as the primary liaison between Cambridge Science Centre and community partners.
  • Volunteer Management: Work with volunteers to support programme delivery and community outreach efforts.
  • Impact Measurement: Track the impact of community programmes and adjust strategies to improve engagement and outcomes continually.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Cambridge Science Centre within the community, leveraging social media and local communication channels to engage and support community members.

Requirements: Prior experience in community development, education, or outreach; understanding of the voluntary sector; excellent communication skills; ability to build trust-based relationships and engage diverse audiences.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Benefits: 25 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays; mental health support; contributory pension scheme.
