Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join BAE Systems as a Principal Engineer, playing a key role in driving transparency, standardisation, and consistency across the Submarines network and systems.

As a member of the Platform Systems Governance and Assurance team, you will be responsible for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate process performance and efficiency.

You will also have the chance to contribute to a critical national project, the Dreadnaught Programme, and gain firsthand insight into complex operational systems.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have experience in managing engineering and quality governance activities within a complex software environment.

They will be capable of developing, prioritising and driving a detailed programme of work across multiple facilities, with a proven track record of identifying and managing emerging or existing compliance risks related to Engineering and Quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and Engineering Lifecycle Management, Management Plans, and Business management Systems and Operational Frameworks.

Additionally, they will be able to foster a cultural transformation within the organisation, promoting appropriate levels of responsibility, accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and manage emerging or existing compliance risks related to Engineering and Quality standards
  • Create and manage a risk-based audit schedule, supporting inspections and recertification processes
  • Maintain and continuously improve the T&FC Operational Framework and Code of Practice
Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

  • Educated to degree level in a STEM related subject
  • Chartered engineer or working towards
  • Proven experience of managing engineering and quality governance activities within a complex software environment
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and Engineering Lifecycle Management, Management Plans, and Business management Systems and Operational Frameworks
