The Indigenous Relations Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring our Indigenous Engagement Policy is effectively implemented, optimizing Indigenous and operational objectives. This involves developing and executing Indigenous Engagement plans that support our Business Development group, Operations, and Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada.

We are committed to building respectful relationships founded on open communication and seeking collaborative business opportunities with Indigenous partners. Our goal is to create opportunities for Indigenous Peoples to pursue careers in the construction industry, investing in skills development initiatives and scholarships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of our Indigenous Engagement Policy.
  • Plan and deliver Indigenous community relations and engagement initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to our Operations team and Management team on Indigenous protocol and cultural matters.
  • Execute Indigenous Relations aspects of our strategic plan.
  • Provide an Indigenous lens to our Strategic Plan and Business plan.
  • Champion Indigenous involvement projects and demonstrate leadership.
  • Support activities and initiatives that develop relationships leading to improved Indigenous training and employment.
  • Maintain records and logs to support Operations with Indigenous engagement plans.
  • Attend events such as career fairs, job fairs, and conferences on behalf of Design 2 Build and report trends and information.
  • Develop presentations and support community information sessions related to our involvement in communities as a result of upcoming or current projects.
  • Administer tracking and reporting related to project goals for Indigenous participation based on our Indigenous Engagement Policy metrics, Client requirements, and CCAB reporting requirements.
What We're Looking For
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A demonstrated history of and commitment to integrity.
  • A degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution is considered an asset.
  • Industry experience in the construction sector is considered an asset.
  • A good understanding of Indigenous culture, history, customs, and beliefs is essential.
  • A high level of organization, planning, and attention to detail is essential.
  • A positive, stakeholder-oriented attitude is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is essential.
  • Ability to travel to Indigenous communities on a frequent basis is essential.
  • Existing contacts with Indigenous Communities, Provincial, and Federal Ministries responsible for Indigenous affairs are considered an asset.
  • Strong writing abilities and presentation skills are essential.
  • Priority will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates.
