Midlothian Council is undergoing a transformation, changing the way it delivers services in Midlothian.

Job Description

This Support Worker role is part of this transformation, providing support to children and young people in Easthouses Primary School.

The ideal candidate will have basic literacy and numeracy skills, or equivalent competency, to communicate effectively with staff and pupils. They must be familiar with child development and able to respond to individual needs.

Previous experience in working with children is essential, and the jobholder will be required to undertake additional training courses, such as first aid and calm techniques.

In a Nursery Environment, registration with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment is necessary. To register, the jobholder must hold relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards attaining them within the first year of registration.

Requirements
  • Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency.
  • Familiarity with child development and ability to respond to individual needs.
  • Previous experience in working with children.
Benefits

This permanent position offers a salary based on 27.5 hours over 39 weeks per year, estimated to be £17,110 per annum. The working pattern includes Monday to Thursday, 8:30-15:15 with a 45-minute break, and Friday, 8:30-12:15 with a 15-minute break.

The PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children is a requirement, and the cost will be met by the successful candidate.
