Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing, developing, and mentoring the Funeral Service Operatives team to deliver a professional, caring, and empathetic experience for clients.
  • Supporting the Funeral Operations & Logistics Manager in developing and evolving the support centre operation and funeral delivery proposition.
  • Investigating complaints in a timely manner and reporting findings as necessary.
  • Embracing and endorsing the bereavement and aftercare service for individuals, groups, and colleagues.
  • Managing all elements of team performance, including regular reviews, recruitment, underperformance, sickness, and absence.
  • Ensuring standards and behaviours are continuously demonstrated while adhering to best practice through a culture of teamwork, accountability, and ownership.
  • Highlighting gaps or areas for improvement in colleague recruitment, retention, performance management, health, wellbeing, and learning & development.
  • Delivering key financial KPIs and other financial targets on budget.
  • Supporting the delivery of the End-of-Life Services / Southern Co-op business plan and service proposition.
  • Robustly managing personnel budget and other P&L costs.
  • Ensuring compliance is proactively implemented across all policies and regulation.
  • Ensuring the security of our premises, vehicles, and company equipment.
  • Implementing and delivering the society's community engagement business plan.
  • Liaising with external agencies and participating in business and professional networking opportunities.

Key skills required include:

  • Strong logistical management in an operational environment with commercial and financial awareness.
  • Knowledge or experience of a funeral operational environment.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • IT literacy and a competent user of MS Office.

As an Area Support Centre Manager, you'll enjoy a competitive salary of £36,000, 31 days of annual leave (increasing to 36 days after 10 years' service), a company car, and a range of other benefits, including a healthcare cash plan, share incentive plan, and NEST pension.
