About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled CFD Methodology Engineer to join our team at Williams, a leading Formula One team. As a CFD Methodology Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering high-performance CFD capability to our aerodynamics department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement methodologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our CFD tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamicists and CFD Engineers to understand technical and engineering challenges and develop technical solutions and processes that align with the wider CFD workflows.
  • Ensure that CFD simulations and analysis carried out within the department are aligned with the capability of the tools.
  • Perform CFD correlation analysis against experimental data.
  • Deliver robust, observable, testable, and performant processes.
  • Optimize, maintain, and support new and existing toolkits.
  • Work with our software engineers to translate engineering codes into robust applications.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day activities of the CFD group.
  • Provide at-elbow support to users of the CFD process.
Requirements
  • Strong CFD methodology background with excellent grasp of CFD fundamentals.
  • Experience in tuning CFD models for correlation.
  • Good aptitude for code development and modification of existing codes.
  • Working knowledge of Linux shell scripting and Python.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • At least 3 years' relative experience within an industrial setting.
  • Comfortable in a user-facing role.
  • Experience of OpenFOAM and Star-CCM+ would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience is essential, and F1 experience is highly desirable.
  • Flexible approach to working is essential.
