We are seeking a talented individual to join the CFD team at Williams as a Methodology Engineer. This position entails delivering enhanced CFD capabilities to the aerodynamics division, focusing on refining existing methodologies and creating new processes. A solid understanding of external aerodynamics, internal flow dynamics, thermal modeling, and process enhancement is essential. Collaboration with the CFD team and effective communication with end-users to gather requirements and ensure satisfactory outcomes will be key components of this role. Additionally, you will engage in correlation studies to validate that CFD models accurately reflect real-world scenarios. A strong programming background is crucial, as this role demands a high level of coding proficiency. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with substantial CFD, thermal, and programming experience in a comparable environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative methodologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of CFD tools and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamicists and CFD Engineers to identify technical challenges and devise solutions that align with broader CFD processes.
  • Ensure CFD simulations and analyses conducted within the department are consistent with the capabilities of the tools.
  • Conduct CFD correlation analyses against experimental data.
  • Deliver robust, observable, testable, and high-performance processes.
  • Optimize, maintain, and support both new and existing toolkits.
  • Contribute across various disciplines within the CFD group, including process optimization, external and internal flow analysis, thermal modeling, and pipeline development.
  • Work alongside software engineers to translate engineering codes into reliable applications.
  • Engage in the daily operations of the CFD group.
  • Provide on-site support to users of the CFD processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong background in CFD methodologies with a solid understanding of CFD principles.
  • Experience in tuning CFD models for accurate correlation.
  • Proficient in code development and modification of existing software.
  • Familiarity with Linux shell scripting and Python programming.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an industrial context.
  • Comfortable in a role that involves user interaction.
  • Experience with OpenFOAM and Star-CCM+ is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a similar field is essential, with a preference for candidates with Formula One experience.
  • A flexible approach to work is necessary due to the dynamic nature of the industry.
