Job Description

Role: Mechanical Shift Engineer

Shifts: The successful candidate will work a rotating shift pattern, consisting of two weeks of Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm, followed by one week of Monday to Friday 2pm to 10pm, and then one week of Monday to Thursday 6pm to 3am.

Salary: £38,000 to £40,000 per annum, plus benefits

Location: This role is commutable from various locations in the UK, including Grimsby, Barton-upon-Humber, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Immingham, Market Rasen, Gainsborough, and surrounding areas

The Opportunity

This leading heavy plant manufacturing company is seeking a skilled Mechanical Shift Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will have experience of planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns within a team environment.

Responsibilities

The Mechanical Shift Engineer will be responsible for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance tasks, as well as participating in projects and improvement work to plant machinery and building infrastructure. The role requires a proactive approach and good attention to detail, with a strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Good mechanical maintenance skills, including experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, chains, bearings, shafts, seals, motors, welding, and fabrication
  • Good troubleshooting and diagnostics skills
  • Experience of mechanical equipment inspections and jobs issued via a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) schedule
  • Maintain and update files/records using the CMMS system
  • Ensure spares are kept to optimum levels and spares used in PPM or repairs are recorded to enable Stores inventory to be updated accurately
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Good ability to read technical drawings
  • Able to work at height and in confined spaces, with relevant training provided
  • Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of MS Office packages
  • Good communication and team skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
