Job Title: Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Consultant to lead our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry service. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to children and adolescents with mental health needs, as well as leading and managing a team of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans for children and adolescents with mental health needs
  • Conduct assessments and provide diagnoses for children and adolescents with mental health needs
  • Lead and participate in clinical governance activities to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals and services to ensure seamless care for patients
Requirements
  • MRCPsych or recognised equivalent
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or ability to obtain approval before starting post
  • Excellent knowledge in specialty
  • Experience of carrying out an audit project
  • Experience or involvement in a research project and publication
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Previous management experience, including that of other junior medical staff
  • Published audit project
  • Ability to critically appraise published research
