Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical care to children and adolescents with mental health needs, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver effective care and support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care and safety.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service strategies and plans to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure seamless care and support.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g. MBBS or equivalent) and be registered with the GMC.
  • Have a specialist qualification in psychiatry (e.g. MRCPsych or equivalent).
  • Have experience of working in a similar role and setting.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team and lead others.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Experience of working in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience of teaching and training others.
  • Experience of research and audit projects.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage others.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and patient safety.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience of working in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience of teaching and training others.
