Echocardiography Training Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Echocardiographer to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As an Echocardiography Training Lead, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and directing the training pathway associated with the Echocardiography Service in the Cardio-Respiratory Department.
Key Responsibilities- Autonomously manage, coordinate, and direct the training pathway associated with the Echocardiography Service.
- Lead and mentor colleagues working towards successful BSE accreditation.
- Perform, unsupervised, all routine non-invasive techniques/investigations of the department and provide advice and/or reports to clinicians.
- Assist Consultant Cardiologists in routine and complex procedures.
- Provide accurate measurements and factual reports.
- Perform first line resuscitation with defibrillation.
- Provide immediate real-time diagnostic information to medics and advise the need for any further tests.
- Assist in audit procedures of the service.
- Assist in diagnostic studies utilising TOE, pericardiocentesis, bubble contrast, and stress echo studies, if required.
- Assist in the performance of 3D and TDI examinations as the service develops.
- Perform follow-up procedures as a competent, independent practitioner.
- Provide an out-of-hours on-call service.
- Assist in piloting new service developments in echocardiography.
- Interpret and report clinical results within all investigations performed by the department.
- Assist the Manager in the production of audit, review, and quality assurance.
Education & Qualifications
- Appropriate Science Degree (or equivalent)
- ILS (minimum)
- BTEC/HTEC (MPPM) or equivalent
- BSE adult accreditation
- Registered member on the Council of Clinical Physiologists
Knowledge & Experience
- 2 years experience in Echo, including TOE, bubble/contrast studies.
- High level of specialist knowledge in areas of non-invasive cardiology
- Knowledge across all aspects of Cardiology
- Advanced broad base of theoretical and practical specialist knowledge in cardiology
- Specialist knowledge in legislation for COSSH, RIDDOR, Health and Safety in invasive cardiology
- Proficient in teaching other grades of staff in all aspects of technical cardiology
- Proven experience in planning and organisation of staff training, meetings, and conferences, and, if required, work-based assessor sessions
