About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Echocardiography Training Lead to join our dedicated team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Cardio-Respiratory Department, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring colleagues in the development of our Echocardiography Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Autonomously manage, coordinate, and direct the training pathway associated with the Echocardiography Service, ensuring the development of highly specialized cardiac physiologists.
  • Lead and mentor colleagues in achieving successful BSE accreditation, promoting excellence in echocardiography practice.
  • Perform and report adult transthoracic echocardiograms, contributing to the provision of other clinical measurement services as required.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the service, performing a wide range of investigations, including stress, 3D imaging, and tissue Doppler studies.
  • Develop and implement training programs, ensuring the continuous professional development of staff.
  • Collaborate with Consultant Cardiologists in routine and complex procedures, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Conduct audits and quality assurance activities, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and service delivery.
  • Provide out-of-hours on-call services, ensuring the continuity of patient care.
Requirements
  • Appropriate Science Degree (or equivalent)
  • ILS (minimum)
  • BTEC/HTEC (MPPM) or equivalent
  • BSE adult accreditation
  • Registered member on the Council of Clinical Physiologists
  • 2 years experience in Echo, including TOE, Bubble/Contrast studies
  • High level of specialist knowledge in areas of non-invasive cardiology
  • Knowledge across all aspects of Cardiology
  • Advanced broad base of theoretical and practical specialist knowledge in cardiology
  • Specialist knowledge in legislation for COSSH, RIDDOR, Health and Safety in invasive cardiology
  • Proficient in teaching other grades of staff in all aspects of technical cardiology
