As a key member of the Hannon Lab's piRNA team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of the piRNA pathway in Drosophila. This complex defence mechanism safeguards the genetic integrity of animal germ cells against transposable elements.
The team is seeking an individual with expertise in Drosophila husbandry and laboratory skills in molecular biology or biochemistry. Proficiency in tissue culture or molecular cloning would be beneficial, but not required.
We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, including part-time and flexible working arrangements. The ideal candidate will possess responsibility, initiative, independent thinking, excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a diverse team.
The successful applicant will hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent practical research experience) in a relevant discipline, such as Biology, Biochemistry, or Natural Sciences.
We are committed to providing comprehensive training in these disciplines within the group. A competitive salary is available, estimated at £25,000-£35,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
