About the Role

The Community Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Furness For You partnership, its participants and volunteers. In this role, you will be responsible for organizing and creating a varied activities programme, from organizing creative activities to group events to completing one-to-one support with specific activities, all of which will promote independence, resilience, choice and dignity for our participants, enabling participants to develop valuable personal and work-based skills and gain confidence to enable them to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a range of activities and events that promote social inclusion and community engagement
  • Work closely with participants and volunteers to understand their needs and preferences
  • Organize and facilitate group events and activities, including creative activities and one-to-one support
  • Provide support and guidance to participants to help them develop their skills and confidence
  • Collaborate with the Furness For You partnership and other stakeholders to ensure the activities programme meets the needs of the community
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the activities programme and make recommendations for improvement

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • IAG Level 2 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the local voluntary and community sector and experience of working with people who have multiple barriers
  • Ability to work on own initiative and self-manage workload whilst being a team player and recognizing the importance of partnership working
  • Previous experience of running activity-based sessions
  • Previous experience of tracking improvements using Action Plans/STAR Outcomes or similar
  • Ability to motivate people who lack confidence
  • Customer care skills, caring and empathetic
  • Experience of data collection and collation, including writing reports and case studies
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to the needs of participants
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience of following safe lone working practice guidelines
  • Knowledge & Experience of writing and completing risk assessments
