Job Overview
CITIZENS ADVICE WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE AND CHERWELL LTD is seeking a skilled Benefits Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality benefits casework and advice to clients across West Northants and Cherwell. This role requires a strong understanding of welfare benefits in the UK and excellent communication skills.

About the Role
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working as a Generalist Adviser and a proven ability to support clients and manage cases. They will also be able to calculate client outcomes, conduct effective client appointments, and communicate effectively orally and in writing. In addition, they must demonstrate a flexible approach, willingness to work as part of a team, and ability to prioritize their own work and the work of others in a busy environment.

Salary and Benefits
This full-time role offers a competitive salary of £26,784 (Grade 5) and a range of benefits, including an auto-enrolment workplace pension scheme and 23 days of annual leave pro rata. The contract is for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver high-quality benefits casework and advice to clients across West Northants and Cherwell.
  • Manage project work queues and report on case status to the Group Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed targets and financial outcomes.

What We're Looking For
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
  • At least 3 years of experience working as a Generalist Adviser.
  • A working knowledge of welfare benefits in the UK.
  • Proven ability to support clients and manage cases.
  • Ability to calculate client outcomes and conduct effective client appointments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
