Job Summary

Sensible Locums is seeking an experienced Temporary Mental Health Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients with mental health conditions at a prestigious private hospital in Stoke-on-Trent. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments and evaluations.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and monitor their effects.
  • Provide support and counseling to patients and their families.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Monitor patients' progress and report any changes to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and hospital policies.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Promote mental health awareness and advocate for patients' needs.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior nursing staff and nursing students.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance nursing skills.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars relevant to mental health nursing.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Education: Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification.
  • Licensure: Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a mental health setting is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Working Conditions

This role requires flexibility, with variable hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will work in a hospital setting with exposure to patients with various mental health conditions. Physical requirements include the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving patients, and standing for long periods.
