About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physics Teacher to join our team at USP College. As a Physics Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons to our students, promoting a love of learning and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students of varying abilities
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans, ensuring that they meet the needs of all students
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum area, discussing policy and practice with the Curriculum Leader
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on student progress
  • Participate in staff meetings, contributing to discussions on curriculum development and school policies
  • Attend parents' consultation evenings and other college events, providing information and support to parents and students
  • Prepare materials and attend Preview/Open evenings, showcasing the work of students and promoting the college
  • Interview prospective students, assessing their suitability for the college and providing guidance on the application process
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of the induction process, welcoming new students and staff to the college
  • Set work to cover absence and cover classes for absent colleagues, ensuring that students continue to receive high-quality education
  • Participate positively in the professional appraisal process, reflecting on practice and identifying areas for development
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recent developments in the subject/curriculum area, staying current with best practice and research
  • Attend curriculum area meetings, contributing to discussions on curriculum development and school policies
  • Participate in recording of student achievement, ensuring that student progress is accurately recorded and reported
  • Exercise effective supervision of learners, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Ensure that learners are ready to learn, providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Make recommendations on safety matters to the Curriculum Leader, ensuring that the college maintains a safe and healthy environment
  • Manage and prioritise actions in relation to learner issues and concerns, providing guidance and support to students and colleagues
  • Provide guidance and advice within procedures, policy, and legislation, ensuring that students and colleagues are aware of their rights and responsibilities
  • Utilise effective organisational and time management skills, prioritising tasks and managing workload effectively
Requirements
  • Degree in Physics or a related subject
  • Expertise in the chosen area and knowledge of additional short courses/enrichment activities that will enhance the student experience
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent
