Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary Range: £80 to £100 per day (depending on experience)

Job Summary:

As a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant, you will collaborate closely with students who have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. Your role will involve providing both mental and physical support during classroom and outdoor activities. You will play a crucial part in helping these students access the curriculum and promoting their overall educational and personal development.

Job Responsibilities:

In your capacity as a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience, your responsibilities will reflect your dedication and capabilities. Your tasks will include:

  • Assisting a Teacher or Instructor with both academic and extracurricular activities, demonstrating patience with specialized learners.
  • Offering tailored support to students with SEN to engage their attention effectively.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers and other staff to create and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Identifying and understanding each student's unique strengths and challenges, particularly those facing difficulties.
  • Supporting the development of effective learning strategies for students.
  • Maintaining a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Managing classroom behavior in an effective manner.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with SEN (Special Educational Needs) is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in the field.
  • A degree in a related area is required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team under various circumstances.
  • A strong passion for supporting the welfare and progress of students with special needs.
  • Must possess an updated DBS for the safeguarding of learners.
