Position: Special Needs Support Assistant

Compensation: £85 – £95 per day

Location: Sheffield

A dedicated educational institution in Sheffield is seeking a passionate and committed support assistant with Moving & Handling certification.

This institution caters to students aged 11-19 who face severe and complex learning challenges, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

The role focuses on assisting students with physical disabilities, making Moving and Handling training a crucial requirement.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in education, especially those with a background in care and support work, or those who have experience with special educational needs and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the physical needs of students.
  • Provide both individual and group support.
  • Help implement personalized education plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with educators and staff to nurture a supportive atmosphere.
  • Support classroom activities and organization.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviors.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certification in Moving & Handling.
  • Experience in a care or educational setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of how to assist individuals with Special Educational Needs and moderate to severe learning difficulties.
  • Team Teach training is preferred but not essential.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time position (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 3:30); however, part-time candidates are also welcome to apply, as similar roles are available on a part-time and ad-hoc basis.
  • Compensation is based on experience, ranging from £85 to £95 per day.
