Job Title: Special Educational Needs Assistant

Location: South Tyneside

Contract type: Long term

Leader Education is recruiting a Special Educational Needs Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in South Tyneside.

This school offers a supportive and educational environment for pupils aged 2-19.

Many pupils within this school have complex or profound needs with the majority having severe learning difficulties.

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar setting and be able to assist pupils in lessons and activities.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30-16:30 and is a long-term position.

Leader Education is dedicated to ensuring that we find adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Have experience working with SEND or vulnerable groups.
  • Assist pupils in lessons and activities.
  • Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
