About the Role

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Associate Practitioner to join our Neonatal Services team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, family-centred care to newborn babies and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care for babies and their families, working under the supervision of a registered Midwife/Nurse.
  • Support new parents and babies to stay together, working alongside the multidisciplinary team to avoid unnecessary admission to the neonatal unit.
  • Provide parent craft sessions in a safe, relaxed environment, promoting effective communication with parents during admission.
  • Support breastfeeding and other parent feeding choices, working in conjunction with the Infant feeding team and SALT.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver a high standard of care, adapting to the needs of the neonatal services.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register, or an Associate Practitioner with a Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care.
  • Experience working with newborn babies and birthing people, with a positive attitude to providing family-integrated care.
  • Good evidence of ongoing personal development and a commitment to undertake further training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • A flexible approach to supporting the service in a fast-paced changing department.
