About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our innovative CAMHS Crisis Intervention & Home Treatment Team. The ideal candidate will be part of a proactive, responsive, and friendly service that makes a difference in the lives of children and young people experiencing mental health crises.

This Black Country-wide service consists of four locality teams, each comprising mental health, learning disability, and children's nurses, social workers, Consultant psychiatrists, clinical fellows, an IAPT practitioner, youth worker, STR worker, and a Barnardo's keyworker. Our team offers a 24/7 service with on-call duties to cover the 136 suite and 24/7 mental health helpline for U18s.

Main Duties
  1. Provide emergency assessments in acute hospitals and other settings, including young people's homes.
  2. Develop creative safe options for children and young people in mental health crisis.
  3. Offer extended support in conjunction with Core CAMHS/CAMHS ED to help young people at home and avoid hospital admissions.
  4. Assess and intervene with young people who are not known to CAMHS.
  5. Support young people while they are inpatients and during their transition back into the community.
  6. Manage and respond to CAMHS 136 suite and provide support for the 24/7 mental health helpline for under 18s.
  7. Assess young people in crisis, develop their care plan, and determine if hospital admission or home treatment/crisis intervention packages of care are necessary.
  8. Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure an appropriate level of support and transition following a crisis episode of care.

The salary for this role is approximately £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
