Nuclear Radiation Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Radiation Protection Specialist to join our team at Rolls-Royce Submarines. As a key member of our radiation protection specialists, you will work on critical nuclear infrastructure projects and support the regeneration of our Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site Facilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in radiation protection and contribute to the delivery of major nuclear infrastructure programs with significant economic value. You will work closely with a multi-disciplined safety and engineering team to maintain compliance with statutory legislation and industry best practice.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing practical and technical advice to various levels of the business, undertaking radiation risk assessments, and implementing effective risk management controls. Your strong communication and influencing skills will enable you to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and drive results.
You will have previous experience working with ionising radiation and nuclear licensed sites. A current RPA 2000 certificate of competence or equivalent health physics experience is required, along with excellent numeracy, verbal communications, and report writing skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as radiation protection lead for nuclear new build projects and decommissioning.
- Provide practical and technical advice to all levels of the business.
- Undertake radiation risk assessments and implement effective risk management controls.
- Critically review, analyse, and summarise data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
- Identify, implement, and monitor appropriate radiological protection measures.
- Develop and deliver specialist radiation protection training.
