About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a Consultant, you will provide medical input to the Community Mental Health Team, the Memory Service, and the Care Home Liaison team for designated surgeries within the Clinical Commissioning Group area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultant medical input to a population of approximately 22,500 older adults registered with GP practices within the WWKYD area.
  • Work within three teams: the West Wilts, Yatton Keynell, and Devizes (WWYKD) CMHT, the North Memory team, and the Care Home Liaison Team.
  • Deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need, including those who require an assertive approach.
  • Assess and treat outpatients in clinics, hold CPA meetings, and visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
  • Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs, and non-NHS organisations, and prepare Mental Health Act Tribunal reports.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.
  • Leadership skills, ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, and excellent communication skills.
