About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a Consultant, you will provide medical input to our Community Mental Health Team, Memory Service, and Care Home Liaison Team, working with a population of approximately 22,500 older adults registered with GP practices within the WWKYD area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need, including those who require an assertive approach.
  • Assess and treat outpatients in clinics, holding CPA meetings as necessary.
  • Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs, and non-NHS organisations to ensure seamless care.
  • Prepare Mental Health Act Tribunal reports and participate in meetings as required.
  • Provide medical and AC responsibility for patients from designated GP practices.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
