We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide medical input to our Community Mental Health Team, Memory Service, and Care Home Liaison team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical input to a population of approximately 22,500 older adults registered with GP practices within the designated area.
- Work collaboratively with the West Wilts, Yatton Keynell, and Devizes (WWYKD) CMHT, North Memory team, and Care Home Liaison Team.
- Deliver direct interventions to service users, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
- Provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and attend regular Team MDT meetings.
- Assess and treat outpatients in clinics, hold CPA meetings, and visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated.
- Liaise with other parts of the service, GPs, and non-NHS organisations as applicable.
- Prepare Mental Health Act Tribunal reports and participate in Mental Health Act Tribunal meetings.
- Provide medical and AC responsibility for patients from designated GP practices.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
- CCT in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.
- Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage own time, workload, and prioritise clinical work.
