The Laboratory Operations Coordinator is a key member of the School of Engineering's team at Widener University. This role supports the maintenance and operation of various engineering laboratories, ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students and faculty.

Job Summary:

This position requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. The successful candidate will have experience working in a laboratory setting, operating machinery, and providing technical support to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including machine shop tools and instruments.
  • Assist faculty and students with designing, fabricating, and modifying mechanical components and prototypes.
  • Provide technical support and training to students and staff on the use of laboratory equipment and tools.
  • Ensure safety compliance by enforcing laboratory safety protocols and conducting regular equipment inspections.
  • Manage inventory of materials, tools, and supplies, and coordinate with vendors for purchases and repairs.
  • Support engineering outreach and recruitment activities.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field and two years of relevant experience in engineering or a similar field.
  • Experience with engineering testing equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision on multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the engineering field.
  • Previous experience in engineering laboratories.
  • Experience with machine shop operations.

Estimated Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is $58,000 - $68,000 per year, depending on experience.
