This position reports directly to the Quality Control Lab Supervisor. The position requires working on rotating shifts (24/7 operations) at the discretion of supervisory and management personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform quality control testing of raw materials and products.
  2. Maintain the record keeping and work instructions required for the ISO program.
  3. Ensure produced products meet the specifications and/or expectations of our customers before approving them for sale.
  4. Operate laboratory instrumentation to complete analysis of all samples including those from production, shipping, recurrence, application lab, and customer.
  5. Ensure recycling of blocked stock when possible based on recycling advice provided by Quality Manager.
  6. Communicate effectively with plant personnel.
  7. Maintain QC Lab equipment and consumable inventory.
  8. Ensure correct operation of lab equipment.
  9. Complete all required instrument maintenance, service, and calibration.
  10. Use troubleshooting skills to identify instrument deviations and problems. Resolve if capable.
  11. Complete inventories, request quotes and submit purchasing orders for QC Lab consumables.
  12. Manage all QC Lab data.
  13. Develop and use computer skills for various programs including SAP, Excel, Lotus, Success Factor, and all lab instrument software.
  14. Ensure accurate data entry into computer programs for all required analyses and calibrations.
  15. Maintain and file hard copies for all required analyses and calibrations. Retain based on specified company retention policy.
  16. Participate in audits and inspections as requested.
  17. Maintain a safe, environmentally friendly, clean, and organized lab environment.
  18. Understand the hazards and risks associated with handling various chemicals.
  19. Understand plant environmental health and safety regulations and comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  20. Ensure safe laboratory practices are followed including safe handling of chemicals and other laboratory supplies.
  21. Clean throughout your shift to maintain a safe working environment. Address any spills immediately to protect yourself, your co-workers, and the lab equipment from chemical exposure.
  22. Maintain good housekeeping in both the retain room and QC Lab warehouse storage area.

Requirements

  1. The minimum educational or experience requirement is a 2-year technical chemistry degree or 5-7 years of related laboratory experience.
  2. Computer literacy, with experience in Excel, Word, and Access software.
  3. Physical requirements include continual standing, and frequent walking and climbing stairs in the plant.
  4. Maintain training required to ship hazardous and dangerous goods internationally and domestically.
