About the Role

AWE Plc is now recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Safety Engineer to become a member of our Mechanical Safety Team, within our Engineering Safety Organisation.

The position is located in a strategic area between Reading and Basingstoke, with onsite parking available. Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. The successful candidate will spend most of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.

We offer a competitive salary of £47,690 - £70,000, depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience. A 9-day working fortnight means you get every other Friday off work, in addition to 270 hours of annual leave.

Key Responsibilities
  • To set, manage, and assess standards of competence for Mechanical Engineering Safety Appointed people such as Authorised Persons and Nominated Persons.
  • To review the suitability of Mechanical safe systems of work for maintenance delivery by AWE and contract personnel for compliance with relevant regulations.
  • To review legislative records pertaining to engineering safety.
  • To provide advice on the safe and effective implementation of engineering safety and make judgments on the safe and effective implementation of engineering safety within your area of authority.
  • Oversight of supply chain's specialist contractors' application of engineering safety when delivering tasks.
  • Providing technical support in resolving complex and multifaceted issues across the business.
  • Supporting the development and efficient operation of the Engineering Safety Organisation.
