We are seeking an experienced Housing Officer to join our Independent Living team at Folkestone & Hythe District Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive housing service to our tenants living in independent living schemes.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver intensive housing management to older and vulnerable tenants to sustain their tenancies and ensure their safety.
- Sign up new tenants into their homes, deal with reports of anti-social behaviour, and manage tenancies.
- Carry out scheme surgeries and meetings, annual wellbeing plans with tenants, and assess suitability of applicants for independent living.
- Ensure the safety of schemes through weekly inspections, with fire safety as a top priority.
- Work closely with Neighbourhoods staff, internal and external partners, including the Community Safety Unit, social services, and Kent Police.
- Experience of working within a housing management team or similar.
- Sound knowledge of relevant housing legislation and current issues in social housing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, a 'can do' attitude, and a commitment to getting the job done.
- Robust approach to managing an anti-social behaviour caseload.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Good literacy skills and confidence in your abilities.
